#Letran Calamba School of Nursing Cultivates Future Leaders Through a Clinical Tour at University of Santo Tomas Hospital

On February 19, 2025, Colegio de San Juan de Letran Calamba’s School of Nursing facilitated a comprehensive clinical tour for its Level 4 nursing students at the distinguished University of Santo Tomas (UST) Hospital. This pivotal experience, titled “Navigating Letran Knights Future: Exploring Diverse Nursing Opportunities,” was led by Dean Maria Cherry G. Tanodra and clinical instructors Mr. Bernard Enriquez and Ms. Aurea Thyella Villaluz.

This culminating educational activity was designed to bridge the gap between theoretical instruction and practical application, providing students with direct exposure to the operational excellence and patient-centered care protocols characteristic of leading academic medical institution.

Nursing Letran Knight students gained firsthand observational experience of dynamic clinical workflows within critical hospital departments, including Emergency Services, Surgical Services, and Intensive Care Units.

The tour underscored UST Hospital’s commitment to evidence-based patient care, safety protocols, and continuous quality improvement, reinforcing core competencies essential for contemporary nursing practice.

Students explored diverse career pathways through exposure to specialized clinical units, such as Neonatal Intensive Care, Adult Intensive Care, Operating Theatre and ancillary support services.

A guided visit to the UST Museum and university landmarks provided students with a deeper appreciation for the institution’s historical significance and its contributions to the advancement of healthcare in the Philippines.

The clinical tour significantly enhanced students’ preparedness for professional practice, fostering a transformative learning experience that integrated academic knowledge with real-world clinical application.
