Letran Calamba School of Nursing Forges Global Pathways Through Strategic Partnerships in Singapore

Colegio de San Juan de Letran Calamba's School of Nursing is committed to equipping its students with the global competencies necessary to excel in the 21st-century healthcare landscape. This commitment is exemplified by Dean Maria Cherry G. Tanodra's recent participation in a strategic delegation to Singapore from February 13-16, 2025. The delegation explored the International Nursing Transcultural Engagement for Research and Output-based Learning (INTEROL) Program, offered in partnership with the Carl Balita Review Center-Singapore Branch (CBRC-SG), which facilitates immersive educational experiences in Singapore, South Korea, and China.

The visit centered on observing best practices in nursing education and geriatric care, with key visits to Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital (KWSH).

Nanyang Polytechnic University (NYP):

A significant highlight was the engagement with Dr. Bryan Chua, Director of the School of Health & Social Sciences at Nanyang Polytechnic University. Dr. Chua provided a comprehensive overview of NYP's innovative educational approaches, with a particular focus on their nursing program. A tour of NYP's state-of-the-art nursing skills laboratory revealed advanced simulation technologies and specialized skills stations designed to cultivate essential nursing competencies through realistic, hands-on practice.

Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital (KWSH):

Our delegation also visited Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital (KWSH), a leading institution in geriatric care. Mr. William Loh from the Strategic Development and Management Department, alongside the senior management group, provided an in-depth overview of KWSH's mission and services. A facility tour showcased KWSH's comprehensive approach to geriatric care, encompassing holistic patient support, specialized facilities, seamless interdisciplinary collaboration, technology-enhanced services, and strong community engagement.

The INTEROL Program: A Transformative Educational Experience:

The INTEROL Program is designed to provide Letran Knight nursing students with unparalleled opportunities for transcultural exposure, research collaboration, and competency-based learning within a global context. This comprehensive program combines clinical exposure and didactic learning in leading healthcare environments across Singapore, South Korea, and China. Students will engage in hands-on learning experiences within world-class facilities, cultivating essential global skills and fostering a deeper understanding of transcultural nursing practices.

This transformative opportunity will be offered to all Letran Knight nursing students, across all year levels, commencing this 2nd semester of the AY 2024-2025. We invite prospective students and international partners to discover the enriching educational experiences available at Letran Calamba's School of Nursing.
