The Colegio de San Juan de Letran Calamba Robotics Team achieved a remarkable victory at the International Exhibition for Young Inventors (IEYI) 2024, held from August 3 to 4 at the National Taiwan Normal University in Taipei. The prestigious event showcased the talents of young innovators from across the globe, with Letran Calamba’s Robotics Team standing out for their ingenuity and technical prowess.
The awarding ceremony took place on August 5, 2024, at the New Taipei City Hall, where four teams from Letran Calamba were honored for their exceptional contribution to the fields of Green Technology and Sustainability, Food and Agriculture, and Industrial Design & Convenience Devices for Daily Life. Competing against teams from various countries, the Letran Knights demonstrated their excellence by securing the following awards with their innovative inventions.
Silver Medal in Industrial Design and Convenience Devices for Daily Life (Senior Category)
Invention: TDVS Table Vacancy Detection System
A device equipped with a passive infrared (PIR) sensor to detect movement and an ultrasonic sensor to measure the distance to the person occupying the table. This system effectively identifies whether a table is occupied or vacant.
Inventors: Johann Gabriel S. Lagman, Ben Raphael M. Paguio, Raphael Chiro V. Ustaris, John Angelo P. Isnani
Coach: Ms. Monica V. Kawabata, LPT
Bronze Medal in Food and Agriculture (Junior Category)
Invention: Circular Irrigation with Moisture Detection System (CIMDS)
An advanced agricultural technology designed to optimize water usage and enhance crop growth. CIMDS automates the irrigation process by detecting soil moisture levels, reducing the need for manual labor in watering fields while ensuring crops receive the precise amount of water they need.
Inventors: Czyan Knox V. Arcibal, Isabelle M. Visico, Francine Jaic M. Conde
Coach: Mr. John Ronald E. Trinidad, LPT
Bronze Medal in Industrial Design and Convenience Devices for Daily Life (Senior Category)
Invention: Leak and Overflow Detection Arduino System (LODS)
A system designed to safeguard houses against the silent threat of water damage in pipes. LODS detects leaks and overflows, sending real-time alerts to homeowners, allowing them to quickly identify and address the problem area, thereby preventing further damage.
Inventors: Daniel Eleazar Camangon, Amaia Calapis, Anne Marie Jael
Coach: Ms. Lovella M. Escalante, LPT, MA (Robotics Chair)
Special Award for Excellence Efforts Invention Award (Senior Category) given by Nornickel Russia
Invention: TempHydroponics
A system designed for hydroponic plant growth. It tracks temperature and pH levels, while plants are in water, ensuring optimal growing conditions. It features an electrical conductivity sensor that detects nutrient deficiencies, helping to maintain a balanced nutrient solution for healthy plant development.
Inventors: Gian Carlo de Guzman, Andrei Loiuse Garcia, John Caleb Robles
Coach: Ms. Lovella M. Escalante, LPT, MA (Robotics Chair)
Support Coach: Ms. Ellen H. Entac, LPT
Presidential Technology Innovation Award (Senior Category) given by Technological University of the Philippines
