On February 26th, a contingent of students from the School of Education, Arts, and Sciences SEAS, encompassing both Education and Bachelor of Arts in Communication BACOMM programs, had the distinct privilege of attending the National Commission for Culture and the Arts NCCA Tanghalang Bayan event, held at the historic Metropolitan Theater in Manila. This prestigious event marked the culmination of the nation's Arts Month celebrations, featuring a dynamic showcase of theatrical talent from across the Philippines.
A highlight of the event was the inclusion of a theater class outcome from Letran Calamba's BACOMM students, which stood among the 24 presentations of different theater groups from all over the country. This participation underscored the institution's commitment to fostering artistic expression and practical application of theatrical skills.
The event was particularly significant due to the involvement of Director Edward Perez, a respected theater professor within Colegio's communication program. In addition to guiding the students' performance, Director Perez served as a convenor of Tanghalang Bayan and holds the esteemed position of head of the NCCA's Dramatic Arts Committee, demonstrating his profound influence in the national arts scene.
The student delegation was thoughtfully accompanied by SEAS Dean Dr. Richard Manzano, BA Communication Co-Chair Prof. Roberto Revilla PhD, and General Education Chair Ms. Margeline Castillo. Their presence reinforced the institution's support for its students' artistic endeavors and provided valuable mentorship during the event.
The theater production, titled "Gen Z Confessions," resonated powerfully with the audience and seamlessly integrated with the diverse array of relevant performances staged from across the country. This production, featuring the exceptional talents of BACOMM seniors Phoebe Quiatchon, Colleene Madarang, and Reigne Fernandez, offered a poignant and contemporary exploration of the experiences and perspectives of Generation Z.
The event provided a rich and immersive cultural experience for the Letran Calamba students, fostering a deeper appreciation for the performing arts and their role in reflecting societal narratives.
