As part of their terminal requirements in the course Events Management in Hospitality Industry , the 4th year BS Tourism Management students under the tutelage of Ms. Esmeralda SP. Alhambra successfully hosted a convention entitled “The 1st Philippine Tourism Empowerment Convention” with the theme: “One Tourism, One Pinas: Showcasing the beauty and diversity of Philippine Tourism”.

The event was participated in by different schools offering tourism program around Laguna area. The event’s resource persons who shed light on the diversity of Philippine Tourism include: Dr. Felipe De Leon, Chairman of National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCCA), Mr. Joseph Lazaro of the DOT Region IV-A and Professor Ricamela Palis, Director for Culture and Arts Department of Colegio de San Juan de Letran- Calamba. The convention was held last October 3, 2016 at Letran-Calamba’s St. Joseph’s Hall .


To increase global competence in the field of tourism management, students enrolled in two sections of TM183–Transportation Management and TM173A–Tour Guiding and Handling courses went to an exposure tour in Korea on September 27- October 1, 2016. The activity enables tourism management students to personally experience and assess the transportation system of one of the top tourism destinations in Asia while appreciating its geographic and cultural attributes.


Rev. Fr. Honorato C. Castigador O.P., the President of Colegio de San Juan de Letran Calamba signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Kanchanaburi Rajabhat University Thailand, represented by its president Dr. Narongdech Rattananonsathien on September 1, 2016. The MOU signing was witnessed by administrators of both academic institutions. The agreement on academic collaboration includes: exchange of students and faculty, conduct of research projects, immersion and training activities, among others particularly in the field of Tourism and Hospitality Management Education.


Colegio de San Juan de Letran-Calamba participated in the recently concluded Thailand Regional Flair Bartending Competition entitled “Flair Extreme 2016” as part of academic collaboration with its international partner institution the Nakhon Pathom Rajabhat University Thailand. The Colegio’s School of Tourism and Hospitality Management was represented in by Mr. Phillip Louie Chua, a 4th year HRM student and Dean Alex Macario C. Cecilio. The event was hosted by Tourism and Hospitality Management Students of the mentioned university in Thailand on August 25, 2016.


Asst. Prof. Somdej Ninlapan, the President of Nakhan Pathom Rajabhat University in Thailand signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Letran Calamba, represented by Dr. Rhodora G. Odejar, the Vice President for Academics on April 16, 2015. The MOU signing was witnessed by the Executive Board of the University and Dean Alex Cecilio of Letran Calamba in the 76 year old institution in Thailand. The collaboration will initially be in the field of tourism and hospitality education, particularly in the exchange of students, faculty, and conduct of training, research and cultural activities, among others. The linkage program is part of the thrusts of both schools in line with the ASEAN 2015.


De la Salle University-Dasmariñas recently organized a power conference and Mr. & Ms. Tourism Student Philippines 2015. The nationwide event showcased the beauty and talents of tourism and hospitality management students that had created a positive impact in the tourism and hospitality industry as young Filipino tourism advocates.

Ms. Ahzel Mahmoud Hassan Faraq Al-dabi, a third year BS Tourism Management student was awarded Ms. Tourism Student Philippines 2015 First Runner-Up, including three special awards such as Ms. Charity, Ms. Gluta Skin, and People's Choice Award. The event was held on September 4, 2015 at SMX Convention Center, Manila. It was participated in by 25 student candidates from 9 colleges/universities around the country.


Real showcase of talents in the field of Culinary Arts! Our congratulations to HRM students who recently won in the "Luto sa Banga Cookfest 2015" sponsored by The City Government of Calamba, in coordination with the Cultural Affairs, Tourism and Sports Development, in celebration of its 273rd Founding Anniversary. The three students namely: Ms. Rizza Belle R. Tizalona, Ms. Rosse Lyn A. Bautista, and Mr. Michael Jhosep L. Cartaño, under the tutelage of Chef Raygan P. Salandanan bagged the 1st place award (Champion) for both Appetizer and Main Course Category. The event was participated in by 23 colleges/universities around Laguna area. Arriba!!!


Arriba to HRM students who won in the recently concluded BAFBEX 2014 held at De La Salle Lipa Batangas. Mr. Jan Aris David once again proved his culinary skill by winning First Runner Up in the Recipe Writing Competition, while the tandem of Ms. Madel Suelto and Ms. Arianne Jervoso got the Second Runner Up in the Quiz Bowl Competition. The event was held on September 4, 2014.


Three BS Hotel and Restaurant Management students won in the Umami Culinary Challenge 2014 National Competition sponsored by Ajinomoto at SMX Convention Center. This annual national competition served as a venue for HRM and Culinary Arts and Science students, to prove their skills and creativity in preparing different dishes. Mr. Jan Aris David, Ms. Abegail Louise Barzaga, and Ms. Airamuel Herrera bagged the 3rd place (Bronze Medal) in the Best Filipino Umami Dish - Luzon. the competition was held on January 28, 2014 and participated in by 52 schools around the country.
