The Colegio promotes solidarity with the larger community through programs that are responsive to community needs. The CESD established service learning as a major component of its program. Makipamuhay, the Letran Calamba version of service learning, is a pedagogical approach that aims to combine academic instruction with voluntary service to partner community supported by the learners’ reflections on their actual experiences. It is a three-day immersion of Society and Culture and Religious Education IV students in select rural communities. The approach leads students to an experience of academic learning based on the actual situation of rural communities. It also helps develop social awareness and the sense of social responsibility among students.
